Step Into My World

Gear #1- TIMING

After my meeting with a potential customer I came home hoping for some feedback with in few days. Instead I got a call an hour after I returned to the apartment. My customer gave me list of twenty five aircraft chemicals and tapes that he needed and expected a quotation within 24 hours. Well, I immediately got in my car and drove over to the local public library and there I opened the latest edition of Thomas Register. The Register, then in book form, no internet or Google search, was an industrial guide that listed all chemicals and their potential suppliers. Boy, was that a big help, but I called a lot of the wrong suppliers. Who then introduced me to more accurate suppliers for the product needed by my customer. I delivered the quote within the required twenty four hours and the end user rewarded me with a purchase order for $50,000!

Maximum Horsepower 1

The delta between when the seed is planted and the timing to reach the first level of horsepower in business is six to seven years. I’ve spoken to many entrepreneurs and they all agree with the timing to really get established and earn a steady paycheck with cash flow. As a small business you must ask yourself, do you have that internal horsepower to sustain until you reach the first gear?
